Abstract

The spreading and growth of Christianity in the region is reviewed, as well as ecclesiastical organization and the monastic presence.

Special emphasis is on the eminent Cappadocian Fathers of the 4th century, who make an impact on the spiritual tradition of Cappadocia and orthodox theology.
