Abstract

Donor portraits are presented in brief chronological order from the earliest examples in the 9th century to those in the 13th century.

Among other things, their position in the church and the portrait type – dedicatory or funerary- are examined as well as other evidence in the churches themselves, which contain these portraits, such as location and date of painting.
