PATRONAGE IN CAPPADOCIA / Prosopographical information
![]() |
Abstract An attempt is made to collect and classify all information from the inscriptional evidence and from the dedicatory portraits, which contribute to the formation of conclusions or observations regarding all persons who are directly or indirectly associated with patronage activity in Cappadocia. This means that the study is not only confined to donors and supplicants and their social standing or economic power, but also includes all the other persons who form the broader framework of patronage (secular rulers –mainly Byzantine emperors-, artists and craftsmen who are mentioned in inscriptions, etc.) as well. |
